Since I started writing Metaphysical Fantasy over a decade ago, people have always asked me what is it. I mean if the glazed over eyes don't give a red flag then the tilt of the head does. So, I took the time to break down what the fantasy of metaphysics is.
Britannica Online Encyclopedia Defines Metaphysics as such: "Metaphysics, the philosophical study whose object is to determine the real nature of things- to determine the meaning, structure, and principles of whatever is insofar as it is. Although this study is popularly conceived as referring to anything excessively subtle and highly theoretical and although it has been subjected to many criticisms, it is presented by metaphysicians as the most fundamental and most comprehensive of inquires, inasmuch as it is concerned with reality as a whole." Now with that lengthy definition image the theories being presented in a novel, approachable way. Stories that deal with the Matrix we live in and how to navigate it. That's what I and others do. Hopefully, you'll find entertaining discourses from the emerging crop of metaphysicians going about there job description with a little fun, joy, and happiness Thanks for Listening! While I was going the self-publishing route, I skipped over some very important pieces that I couldn't have otherwise. Now that I am going the traditional publishing route, and I have 24 years of writing under my belt, I have to follow the rules and requirements and produce report like stuff. There are no short-cuts or crying while shopping your product. Learn what's being asked and grow a thick skin! The first example that you have done both is the electronic query letter.
The entire thing in between 200-400 words and that includes your pitch, hook, and closing. I currently have two drafts and both are around 225-255 words. I've learned to release my previous works and focus on re-entering as a virgin novelist. Just say I've been born again. In coming at this process as a newbie, I've learned a thing or two or three. 1) Restraint is your friend. You don't need to tell the entire novel in 300 words. To believe that you do is a ball faced lie. Here's the trick; imagine that you are talking to someone who doesn't understand what you're talking about. For instance a four year old. Say what you have to say simple enough for him. Being that I write metaphysics I need to bring it down a lot and when I do, I lose so many words that I'm often left wondering what the big resistance to my giving in to an inquiry in the first place. 2) Temper, Temper Don't take this serious. Have fun with it. Know that all they can tell you is no and move on. Taking this serious as a heart attack may in fact cause one. Don't try to sell ice-cream to an penguin or a polar bear (although the bear might take you up on your offer, I don't the bird will.) To avoid getting over heated: Keep It Simple Silly! 3) Memorization Will Come The best way to know how you sound is to read it aloud. The process of constantly having to do so will engrave it into you mind; and while you're shopping for agents you will hear yourself aligning what you've written in a half page with their pitch. Remember they need us as much as we need them. At least these three things seem to be working for me. I'll keep you updated with the results one way or another. Thanks for Listening! Sabrina Louise Andielle I listen to my meditative thoughts.
I'm in the process of getting ready to launch another attempt at being the new life myth maker, and metaphysical fantasy writer. One reason that I write is because I have the drive and desire to share what I find to be cool and amazing. And there are plenty of cool stuff when it comes to religion, the matrix, and even our plain old life here within the hologram.
For any serious cutting-edge writer, saying things that may cause others to question their beliefs and what you are sharing, is the reward in and of itself. It took me a long time to realize this. It's my job to get you to say, "what if?" or better "What The Hell?!" It is not my job to coddle educate everyone to my ways; save lazy readers and doers from or lead them from self-destruction. It is my job to entertain you while I take you on a journey. A journey that will instill bravery, curiosity, devotion even, and heaven forbid motivation. New myths are needed since we are learning this internal, Spiritual stuff at a speed which runs laps around our ancestors. It ain't just the technology folks. And like any generational teachings we need to build upon the myths which have sustained us. Especially the women. We must know the rules in order to break them. Once we know what the masculine has created we can then chose to reflect it back as healthy and whole or find and reflect a new, undiscovered, little s, source, because the big s, Source is always looking for ways to manifest and become creative in the hologram. Not that I'm leaving the men behind, they need to admit they are lions and leave the sheep along. It's safe. Knowledge is in fact the only sustainable power. So, when it seems as if your work cause ire in another remember to dust the sand from your sandals and got to the next person. Of course, you have to know what you're talking about, which will come with time; but other than that . . . myth making is one of the more joyous, playful, and delightful ways to contribute to society as a whole.
