The more I dig into this mythology genre or niche (depends on who you ask) the more I’m seeing it is truly a lost art. There are many components that go into writing a powerful myth and when you add the guidelines of written storytelling it becomes more difficult. But, I have faith in our skills- even as they are developing. See history has proven that every age or so a group of powerful thinkers, artists, and leaders come into their own and change the social momentum.
Myth and the makers are part of this crew even before long written stories were the thing. Myths are for a violent world and the people who occupy it. To be able to dive deeply into the psychology of humanity then share the findings with society and not get lost in the mental waters takes a special kind of mind and personality. See the goal of myth has always been to explain that there is some good in this world, what that goodness looks like, and how to be that good. Myths motivated before fantasy/fiction knew the power of the written word. Now it is practiced by only a handful, like blacksmithing. Yet, we can’t give up. We have to support the practitioners of this rare art, especially when it is done correctly. Body, mind, soul, the myth-making mythologists are there to back you up. I just thought I would remind the universe that at least one mythologist is still kicking and to send the call out for the others who have become winded. Thanks for Listening! Oh, btw, I have a Patron Account/Page now! You can find me under my name Sabrina Louise Andielle. Hopefully, I’ll see you there soon. Sabrina Louise Andielle Crow Crew

I was talking to someone, today, and I was asked about mythology. His interest was peaked by my re-reading Joseph Campbell's The Hero with a Thousand Faces. His question was, what is mythology? I tried to explain that it was nothing more than theology and philosophy. The asking and answering of questions pertaining to the study of one's spiritual life. He looked at me as if I was speaking Spanish. So, I told him that it was Fairy Tales for adults. This resonated with him, but he then asked me, if I thought that the people were confused enough without mythology. I told him it quite the opposite mythology gives stability as fairy tales gave to us when we were children. We, mythologists, help with everything from rites of passages to journeys of a thousand steps within.
His question did get me to thinking. Story or reality, what comes first? In my humble opinion, story must come first. Look at the society of the world and one can see the absence of story, of a focal point, a goal. But then I think, where does story come from? Again, in my humble opinion, we get our stories from the collective energetic thought pool. That big jar with characters, plots, stories, and dramatic questions in it. For is it not the artist who pulls from the Creator who become a creator. Meaning, I'm back at square one with the question. The truth of the matter is the process of storytelling rises from within. Theme, when written correctly, will always present a valid point regarding life. I mean there are only four themes anyway. My favorite and probably the favorite of most mythologists is man v god. There can be no man v man without surrendering to the fact that, if science or Jehovah, you have a god; then and only then are you able to wrestle with this being. Otherwise, we have straw men arguments that no one wants to read. Then there is the message, that must be premeditated in delivery better than foreshadowing. Truth of the matter is there is a reality that lies dormant in the story until the writer chisels it out. Constantly homing in on what is it that is trying to be told. Because the true mythologist has an ear for story on top of her hours learning the craft and its theories. With that said, no, there is no way we can confuse the public by telling well-constructed myths. But the shit ain't easy! There is the bottom-line of how well of an experience the writer has provided. Has she entertained, explained, and expanded the mind of the listener? Is experience according to the standards and intentions of mythology? No mythologist worth their weight in gold or salt would forget that the final product needs to answer these two questions: is it a story and is it reality. It's the chicken and the egg question. What comes first the story or the religious reality? There will be no answer. There should be no question; because it's only those looking outside who dare to ask so. With that said, we've wasted valuable time on this issue. Time to return back to work and to design my current story that will be constructed to look like reality. Thanks for Listening! Sabrina Louise Andielle Crow Crew In this day and age, when there are so many connecting wires of communication, convincing someone to slow down and join us in an experience which will transform and inform is a little difficult. There are few who are willing to engage in healing energies in the scheme of things. Many will talk the Spiritual talk but run from the Spiritual walk. Mythology is, more often than not, the Spiritual walk. We are supposed to guide people through an initiation which we ourselves have taken. And we can do it, we just have to put our backs into it.
I desire nothing more than serving pieces of art through communication with the abstract symbols which are our assigned medium. The theory of the craft of writing is so intense that many people can't integrate and display a mastery of said theory in order to really get the blissful experience of writing. Then when you add on the piece which is mythology, those who enrapture with words, sentences, and paragraphs normally walk away mumbling something under their breath about storytelling being hard enough as it is. Mythologists who stick it out are not only rewarded with a bounty that can only be kept in the banks of the higher heavens, but we share this bounty enabling others to open accounts alongside us- we are never alone. Thinking about the fact that we have been selected to this honorable position with its hindering tasks, can stop us from reaping what has been sowed while we were just using writing for escapism. Fore the process of becoming initially accepted and acknowledged is one, in which identicality to every other position on this Spa Planet: Earth, sends us on our fool's journey. Just like others it isn't the following of bliss which we start out with, but the warmth from escaping the environment of our holding cell. We write, not even closely aware of the fact that we, like doctors and nurses, will one day enliven and resuscitate the immortals, motivate and inspire the mortals, and give hope to the ghouls. If lucky, we move beyond that feeling we had when we first started and begin the journey of becoming a Mythologist. Schooling and theory on writing comes after escapism, and we die to who we were. There will be so much to learn about character arc and plot. Setting normally takes care of itself, unless we are going beyond the bounds of our atmosphere. But those darn married aspects of creative writing; those are the things that will make or break a writer. Like I said, liken to a doctor or nurse. Theory is just one aspect. It is an important aspect but only the pronouncement and exhibition to the world that being broken is not an option. After showing that there can be trust since now you are an initiative authoritative guide. Structure and Voice are licenses displaying name and ability. Upon becoming working apprentices of the art, the beauty which is storytelling, the mountain of comparative mythology must be climbed. There is a reason why we still need to read Homer or the Sumerians' Epic of Gilgamesh. We need Japanese and Chinese myths in our toolbox and how to use them. There is the greatest historical mythological story, according to some, the Good Book(s) of the Jews and the Christians which weaves history, philosophy, worship, ritual, and fantasy together so well that people are still dying over it. The list carries on with Egypt's Atum and Amun, both gods in their own right, good according to their own disciple sight; Norse; Celtic; African. Exhaustive one must be. This is why many don't Fuck with Myth. Mythology in one area of discipline is hard enough, but when you add the required information gained only be being a comparative mythologist, things get downright outrageous. Yet, going in the belly of the beast will bring about your own hero's journey; one which Joseph Campbell would be proud of. That is when you pass the bar exam, and gain your license, having everything you need in order to lead others through the beast of relevance. There's a lot on your shoulders Mythologists, I know; don't give up. There is no more rewarding way to serve than leading boys into being men and girls into being women. We need you; I desire your company. Just thin about this during those long nights and early days. School of theory, like Med School, only last so long. Apprenticeship, like internship, only last so long. Mastery schooling, like dissertation writing, only last so long. Do the time and graduate each level- slowly. The world will wait. For you are one of the keepers of the gate. Thanks for Listening! Sabrina Louise Andielle Crow Crew I love that storytelling, most of the time, still proves that there is some order and good on this Spa Planet: Earth. With our true nature usually buried deep down, hearing compassionate acts and tales of rising above the animalistic nature inspires, motivate, transform, and even heal. That's why if you give me a moment, I'll give you a reel.
I love pulling stories from the collective creative pool. Mostly, I love sharing the experience of initiation which I received initially. I dare not think that everyone must swim in the depth that I dive into, but I believe that all do and can swim in the same community pool with me. I say community because we've all contributed to the pool of imagination I use. It's like those free phones they give out. Everyone could get one if they like, especially since everyone who has a phone- land line or cellular- has paid into the collective having a phone made available to them. It is an entitlement, a good one. I am aware of the responsibility that I and other mythologists have. That is something that I'm still growing into, though. I never thought about the emotional impact my writings have on people before it was pointed out to me. When I started writing, I wrote for self. I cared nothing of structure, expectations, or topic selection even. But then someone told me that there is a difference between a servant and a consumer, even in the field of writing. A consumer takes, takes, takes and rarely gives anything in return besides a thank you. A servant gives, gives, gives and receive only to give some more. A servant knows the power of exchange; and even when they are receiving, they do so in service to their provider. Consumers appear to contribute things as requested of them, but they lack true generosity at heart, because they always have expectations attached to their giving and their receiving. There is noting wrong with the consumerism, which is why it's here; but I want to be a servant. This is why I can say, give me your ear. I will tell you who you are, based on what you tell me you are. I hold no tricks up my sleeves and only reflect what I hear in an imaginative, concentrated, verbal experience. I give the experience of Self. You may not think I did when you first hear me, but with time you'll turn back into the silk spinning spider. Then we can talk in all honesty being the immortals that we are in eternity. Thanks for Listening! Sabrina Louise Andielle Crow Crew |
